Two ads by the Aluminum Company of America, or Alcoa for short, highlighting the versatility and ubiquity of their product. The one from 1970 combines illustration with bichromatic Mierop Ginger Snap C. The squarish M is either an alternate or a modification. The follow-up from 1971 relies on photos and Palisade Graphic. In both ads, the copy is set in Helvetica.

That first advertisement was my first exposure to Ginger Snap all the way back in 2015. I discovered it in the July 4, 1970 issue of Life magazine, one purchased from an estate sale years prior that I’d never really looked through all the way. Took me about four years to find out it wasn’t custom, and it led me to FIU for the first time.
