Nordlied festival 2021
The first edition of the Nordlied festival, “Hybride”, wants to make the art song limitless. From the Nordlied website (translated):
The credo is fearless experimentation, uncompromising artistic excellence and an offensive, direct approach to a new, young audience.
Where are the fringe zones between song art and pop singing? Between bel canto and vocal art? When is a pianissimo a squeak and when is a fortissimo a (primal) scream? For some, the term song may be reminiscent of a gentleman in tails who is looking for a very specific aesthetic. In comparison to the times of Fischer-Dieskaus et al. radically different. With the Nordlied festival we want to provide an update and present it in high resolution.
On the trail of current art song practice, we encountered experimental improvisers, border crossers, mediators and internationally renowned song singers alike to create a unique event.
The Hamburg based studio off centre makes an ideal use of Apoc (Blaze Type). Uniquely displayed in regular on the website and in the program of the festival, only the scale differs to create hierarchy and movement.
