Antanas Ingelevičius. Kūrėjas ir Miestas
The National Museum of Lithuania opened the exhibition Antanas Ingelevičius: Creator and City in the History House in Vilnius. Antanas Ingelevičius (1892–1947) is a Lithuanian photographer who remained unknown throughout his life. The exhibition shows the story of a mysterious man and his archive of photographs as a record and milestone in the history of Lithuanian photography.
Accompanied by a visual map of Kaunas, where the photographs were made, the exhibition aims to give context to the master’s œuvre. The exhibition tells about the city and its actors: the photographer himself and those who got into his photographic lens – street workers, launderers, newspaper and market vendors, artists, writers, and so on. Photographs protect the life of the city dwellers and the memory of the place.
