Einsicht (“Insight”) is the title used by the graduation class “Interactive Media Designer:in EFZ” of the School of Design GBS St.Gallen to present their Individual Practical Work (IPA) as part of the qualification process 2021.
The interactive media designers created a multimedia exhibition that invites visitors to interact both on site and on the website. The name ‘Insight’ frames the exhibition in two ways. On the one hand, the learners provide an insight into their final projects and works of the last four years. On the other hand, they illuminate in different ways, how users of digital media often allow unnoticed access to their own data and private information. With this correlation between developer and user, the exhibition addresses a central motif of modern interaction design.
The overall concept was translated into digital touch-points as well as printed matter. A flexible key visual was developed for this purpose, reminiscent of an iris. It forms an interactive field of tension, which the users can dynamically shape on the website.
The diffuse circles react to clicks and pressure and thus change the appearance.
The visual noise and selective blurring underline the increasing opacity in the digital space.
NN Nouvelle Grotesk from Nouvelle Noire is used as the main typeface, paired with the monospaced TG Frekuent Mono from Tegami Type.
While the website constantly “monitors” the users (check the terminal in the lower right corner of the website!) and logs their data, the theme of ‘insight’ is also addressed by means of a kinetic/sound installation and thus made tangible.
Step inside or better “insight”. ;D
