Signage for the Stade de la Tuilière in Lausanne

Biel-based architecture firms :mlzd and Sollberger Bögli have designed and built the new Stade de la Tuilière, the home stadium of FC Lausanne-Sport. The building focuses strictly on its function. The signage is designed by another Biel-based agency: kong. funktion gestaltung.
Binnenland’s typeface Formale Grotesque was still unfinished when investigations of the concrete structure were carried out in original size with a beta version of the typeface during construction. The letters fold around the building as sector markings, corresponding to the upwards folded stadium corners. This way architecture, design and the typeface merge in a radically simple symbiosis.
