Ear Taxi Festival, a presentation of New Music Chicago, is a festival which seeks to promote Chicago as a cultural and musical leader. The festival’s theme for 2021 is Hear Chicago, a call to decentralize the New Music scene through the use of venues throughout the city and recognition of Chicago’s rich BIPOC-lead musical history.
The visual identity engages with the festival concepts on multiple levels; taking graphic cues from the Chicago grid and flag, typographic inspiration from old house music posters, and an overall playful approach as a reflection of the lively history of music in Chicago.
