Stop and Eurostile (top) and Futura Black frame a surreal illustration, placed on a wrapping paper-like background on the poster for the 1975 edition of the Gentse (volks)Feesten, held from 19–28 July in that year. The Gentse Feesten are a motley collection of festive activities in the Belgian city of Ghent, which “started almost two centuries ago as an initiative of the bourgeoisie, to curb the absenteeism of workers: from now on one central city party per year instead of countless neighborhood fairs. In the 1970s, singer and artist Walter De Buck breathed new life into the fossilized Ghent Festivities, with great success. [Historiek.net].
