Previously, her singing had been limited to the Gilberto kitchen or nursery and her husband, Joao, had been the singer in the family. Now she is a full-fledged vocal star with a following all of her own and a style completely hers. She has absolute command of bossa nova songs, and creates fresh and incisive renditions of American popular songs. This album is Astrud’s third.
