Exhibition catalogue for The Assembled Human / Der montierte Mensch, an exhibition in the Folkwang Museum in Essen, Germany. From Museum Folkswang:
The Assembled Human presents art as a mirror of industrialisation, technologisation and digitisation. It provides a cultural-historical survey that encompasses key works of painting and graphic design, early experiments in photography, installations and films, along with recent works of Post-Internet Art.
Matching the topic of the exhibition and catalogue, all texts are set in IBM Plex. IBM Plex is an open source typeface superfamily conceptually designed and developed by Mike Abbink at IBM in collaboration with Bold Monday to reflect the brand spirit, beliefs and design principles of IBM and to be used for all brand experiences across the company internationally. Plex replaces Helvetica as the IBM corporate typeface after more than fifty years, freeing the company from extensive license payments in the process.
The constructivism-inspired typeface Nielot by Laïc: Type Foundry is used – sometimes manipulated – for headlines, quotes (Slant and Backslant), page and caption numbers.
