A shaded version of Rustic No. 2 with color fill, paired with outlined caps from Franklin Gothic [edit: it’s Medium Condensed Gothic Outline, see comments], for the cover of an album with ten Hank Williams songs, recorded by ‘Slim’ Boyd, an alias for the American country and western musician best known as Curley Williams (1914–1970), released on Coronet Records as CX-112.
That isn’t Franklin Gothic Condensed, but rather Modern Gothic Condensed (a.k.a. Tourist Gothic), which is generally distinguished by bolder letterforms and less contrast.
Thank you for catching this. In addition to what you wrote, I find the horizontal terminals in S a distinctive detail.
This variant originated at the Triangle Type Foundry in Chicago. Mac McGrew writes:
Medium Condensed Gothic Outline, cut by Triangle Type Foundry in Chicago, is an open version, without lowercase, of this face; some other sources inaccurately call it Franklin Gothic Condensed Outline.
