Harts: A Collection of Short Stories
Plantain is a company that creates family history books, company history books, and bespoke memoirs. All of their books are fully personalised, and design consideration is given to everything from books sizes and colour palettes, to fonts used. Plantain’s belief is that by celebrating and beautifully sharing our memories before they fade, they can help create a more connected and dignified world.
With this project, the challenge lay in condensing the tremendous amount of family anecdotes into fewer than 100 pages. Indeed, Glenn, the client, is a true lover of stories and collects them with the same adventurous spirit that he approaches life.
Somewhere in the middle of designing this family book, it was decided that Palatino and Chaparral would be the fonts to use. These, it was felt, could complement the stories in interesting ways and ultimately reflect the family’s fun and playful side.
