Andersnogiets? De wereld achter de Rotterdamse winkelpui

Andersnogiets? (“Anything else? The world behind the Rotterdam store front”) is about entrepreneurs who enrich the city with their passion and their craft. As a consumer, we often express our love for the neighborhood store, but with our feet or wheels we often choose differently.

I thought it was time to put the prominent, socially involved entrepreneurs/shop owners in the spotlight and initiated the platform and book Andersnogiets? The book is about the change in retail landscape and the social aspect of shops. After calling in the help of many people from Rotterdam, and partly due to a crowdfunding campaign, the project succeeded and the book was published by Trichis. I am very happy that the book has been selected for De Bestverzorgde Boeken 2018!

The typography uses Neue Haas Unica (Regular and Bold plus italics) because its character is neutral, but a little vintage. Because it is a book with a nostalgic touch. It’s about Rotterdam and about hardworking shopowners. Unica is a straightforward, no-nonsense typeface. In combination with lots of photograpy and illustration, the book had to have a bold character. The “Andersnogiets?” logo is based on Pacifico.
