The single was originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at C.W. Post College in Brookville, New York on December 12, 1975. It was finally released on an LP for Sesame Street’s In Harmony 2 in 1981 and released for radio that December. Their version was inspired by The Crystals’ 1963 cover. The song was written in the 1930s by John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie.
