A terrible name for a record. And not even true: Hardy Hepp (from the band Krokodil) was Swiss and Jimmy Jackson American.
But an interesting compilation of early 70s progressive rock anyway, with unusually long songs for a compilation on a major label.
The Gila track stands out: Recorded with Florian Fricke from Popol Vuh.
The image — a depiction of Germania, from the Niederwald monument? — was quoted on the covers of a compilation series (Jazzkraut, Live Kraut, Son of Kraut) issued by Sireena Records.
Interesting combo, Marvin and Desdemona. They are certainly related. Maybe the designers were seeking a lighter version of Marvin for the small stuff, or vice versa.

Also, Desdemona was revived by Face Photosetting (where Marvin originated), as Mathieu has pointed out.
