Catharina Thörn, senior lecturer at the University of Gothenburg, is one of Sweden’s foremost urban theorist and researchers. Her work often concerns gentrification, a process of uneven economic development in an area that displaces the original inhabitants for more affluent residents. Katarina Despotovic is a photographer and cultural theroist, also active at the University of Gothenburg.

Den Urbana Fronten (The Urban Frontline) documents the ongoing process of gentrification in Gothenburg’s Kvillebäcken. Powerful stories of displacement and discrimination are delivered with clarity and urgency using the heavier weights of Founders Grotesk along with an aggressive workhorse in Sectra. Despotovic’s photography is often framed with reversed layouts, pronouncing chapters and sections.
