   I’d missed this use of Copal, but Frank pointed me to it. Nice to see them mixing the widths (as I’d hoped people would). I guess the Decorated & Outline weren’t subtle enough for them!

   Nevermind wrt the widths; I see this is simply an artifact of their idiosyncratic casing. Gave them too much credit.

   Cottonwood is modelled after Gothic Tuscan Italian by Darius Wells of Wells and Webb in 1854. Photo-Lettering marketed the Tuscan as Grover Xenotype years later in 1971.

   From Paul Shaw’s 2017 book Revival Type on digitizing the design to Cottonwood:

   Only a few changes have been made: the tail of the Q and part of the ampersand [sic] have been redesigned and a question mark added.
