The exhibition Dernière danse (Last Dance) presents a series of variations on the iconography of the danse macabre, or Dance of Death.

The layout, white and airy, references the subject both in the composition of the essays — densely justified texts forming a central column in which the notes are inserted — as well as in the chosen typefaces: Genath by François Rappo (Optimo), used for the body text, has its roots at a Basel foundry in 1720, just like the Macabre subject is inspired by primitive models of Dominican frescoes in Basel. 1554 Marian by Paul Barnes (Commercial Type), used for titles, provides an analogy between the human skeleton and that of the letter, especially in the introductory pages.

The exhibition is on display from 21 May to 29 August 2016 at the Galerie Heitz of the Palais Rohan, Strasbourg. Curated by Franck Knoery and Florian Siffer.
