  1. Judging from the right-leaning ‘A’ and the concave serifs, this is not Bitstream’s digital version of Allegro, but the “real thing”.

  2. In contrast, the cover for Gogol’s Dead Souls (Vintage Classics, 1997) features an ‘A’ as included in Bitstream’s Allegro. The cover was designed by Barbara deWilde, too, using an image by Kazimir Malevich.

  3. Neuland and Allegro is a really engaging, unexpected combination. The Kennerly looks a little lost by comparison, to be honest.
