Designed by Berthold Wolpe as a text counterpart to his Albertus [Paul Shaw] in 1937 and cut by Monotype (Series 508) in 1938 [Monotype].

Redrawn by Matthew Carter for Mergenthaler Linotype, adding Bold (with small caps) and Italic, in 1982 (first used in 1980) and 1997.

Castcraft offered an inofficial digitization named OPTI Pegasus (1990–1991), in three (upright) weights.
