Microsoft Comic Sans (or Comic Sans MS) was designed by Vincent Connare in 2 weights. It shipped in 1995 with several Microsoft products, and was included in 1996 in the Core fonts for the Web package.
In 2010, Terrance Weinzierl made an expanded version, adding italics and several extras (swashes, small capitals, ornaments, dingbats). Initially released as Comic Sans 2010, it later was named Comic Sans Pro.
