Academy is a revival of a design made in ca. 1910 at the Russian branch of the Berthold type foundry in St. Petersburg, based on Sorbonne (H. Berthold, Berlin, 1905) and Russian typefaces of the mid-18th century. The digital version was designed at Poligrafmash type design bureau in 1989 by Lyubov Kuznetsova. Revised and extended at ParaType in the early 2000s.
