Fotostar offered 2″ film fonts under the name Sun. TypeShop created the first digital version in the mid-1970s and Elsner+Flake licensed it in the mid-1990s under the name Digital Sans. [Elsner+Flake]

Canada Type released Sol Pro in 2010 with “optical improvements to the original design, more weights [five weights in two widths], italics, small caps, biform shapes, alternates, and extended language support.”
