A revival based on the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, “published by Aldus Manutius in Venice in 1499, using a type that had been cut by Francesco Griffo. […] whereas Bembo was redrawn, with the intention of making a new face based on an old design, Poliphilus is an exact copy of fifteenth century printing on hand made paper.” [Linotype]
Made under the direction of Stanley Morison at Monotype as Series 170 in 1923. Poliphilus Titling (all-caps) followed in 1927. [Reichardt] Blado (Series 119, 1923) is the italic companion.
VGC had a version of Poliphilus Titling and Blado.
