Broadway Engraved

An inline version of ATF’s Broadway, designed by Sol Hess for Lanston Monotype in 1928. Initially without lowercase, but with an alternate “lazy S”. [Reichardt 2011]

Photo-Lettering had an all-caps version named Broadway Engravers and added two heavier variants, Broadway Fanfare and Broadway Graphic Engravers. [PLINC One Liner 1971]

A lowercase was added to phototype versions by 1983. [1983 Cardinal Type] [1986 Solo]

Various digitizations. The ones by Bitstream, Linotype and Lanston Type Company add a lowercase. Scangraphic’s Broadway Engraved No2 is caps-only, but adds Italic and Caps (wide small caps) styles.
