Sequel Sans was first released in 2017 in three optical sizes (Text, Headline, Display; also named Body, Head, Disp), each in eight weights plus italics. Sequel 100 Wide (six weights plus italics) and the extended Sequel 100 Black (eight weights plus italics) were added in 2018, initially as separate families.
By 2025, all widths were consolidated into one redrawn family named Sequel Sans, now without optical sizes. The normal width has nine weights and is the only one to offer italics. Compressed, Condensed, Wide, and Extended have ten weights each. Also available in variable font format.
