Patented by Richard Smith for MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan in 1878. [Patent] Three sizes completed by June 1878. [Printers’ Circular] Considerable differences between the sizes. A Two-line Brevier size was added by 1881. [Printers’ Circular] No. 2 is a narrower style added by 1881. [Printers’ Circular] Later offered by ATF with ornamental caps. Several alternates incl. terminal forms, ligatures, and catchwords.
