Based on the lettering of Martin Jacoby-Boy. Initially released
by Stempel in three weights in 1912. The sample shows the
fett (bold). Expanded with schraffiert (hatched,
1913) and verziert (ornamented, all-caps, 1913) styles,
italics
(two weights, 1914), condensed styles (two weights, 1922), and a
licht (highlight, i.e. verziert without the
pimples) style in 1926, resulting in a series of ten styles
altogether [Reichardt/Hoefer]. Bigger sizes also made
in wood. Six styles were available in a Cyrillic version
[Wetzig 1926–40] [Bertheau 1995].
The fett was known as John Bull in England. The
halbfett was sold by Fondografica (as Velletri). Also
sold by Caslon (as Paladin, five styles), Ardinghi (as
Serie Moderna), Nebiolo (as Rolando),
Fondografica (as Roma) [Reichardt 2011] and Funtimod [Aragão]

Bravado NF (Nick’s Fonts, 2009) is a revival in three styles. Olech (Sebastian Cabaj, 2013, all-caps) is based on the fett and the schraffiert styles.
