A Japanese text typeface family spanning six weights (Light, Medium, Bold, Demibold, Extrabold, and Ultrabold). Following JIS and using the OCF font format, it was among the first few Mincho-style typefaces available for desktop typesetting. Initial design by Francis Chow in 1991 using Fontographer, with weight expansion by his colleagues at Fontworks’ Hong Kong division. The kana portion was matched at Fontworks’ Japan headquarters, completed by Toshiyasu Sato (佐藤俊泰) and Shigenobu Fujita (藤田重信); Fujita also supervised the family’s glyph expansion and conversion to the Adobe-Japan standard [Peiran Tan]. The first styles were released in 1992 [Fontworks].
