Hello, Tokyo! compiles and translates articles from Tokyo City Guide issues published by Popeye between 2018 and 2025. It was issued by Magazine House under the art direction of Taro Kambe. Designed by Nari Kang and Nina Kitayama using Ohno Casual and ABC Marfa as the main typefaces on the cover, plus Gilroy, used for the info underneath the logo. The interior holds a generous selection of more Japanese and Latin fonts.

The tables of contents of this Kindle edition of the publication use Funkis.

Spritzi is coffee, but with a twist—a fizzy, refreshing tonic that shakes up Chicago’s coffee scene. We gave the brand a clean, vibrant look with colors that feel as fresh as the first sip. The playful-yet-polished typography and custom illustrations bring energy and adventure to the brand. The identity uses a trio of typefaces to make it feel approachable, premium, and full of life. The logo uses custom script lettering.

Ten/Ten is a limited collection of 100 commitment rings, designed in collaboration with ten independent jewelry designers. Each ring design is totally unique. […]

Ten/Ten was conceived during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, specifically to both promote diamonds from Botswana, a country whose economy relies largely on diamond revenues, as well as to increase visibility of the ten independent designers each chosen for their unique points of view: Catherine Sarr of ALMASIKA, Aurora Lopez Mejia, Bea Bongiasca, Lauren Harwell Godfrey of Harwell Godfrey, Lola Oladunjoye of Lola Fenhirst, Marla Aaron, Michelle Fantaci, Natasha Tsimmerman of Platt Boutique Jewelry, Pamela Love and Wing Yau of WWAKE.

The visual identity was done by graphic designer Toga Cox for De Beers. He used two typefaces: the stencil typeface Orientation (Commercial Type) and the geometric Funkis (Letters from Sweden).

The food delivery category is home to either the interesting but unhealthy or the fitness-focused but bland. The approach of Singapore based online restaurant Grain aims to add an experimental and wholesome approach, as a breath of fresh air in the staid category: “a world where we don’t have to choose”. The brand belief is “food has no limits”, where the best part of each day is answering the question, “What will we eat next?”

Dish names went from functional descriptors to a unique Grain naming structure – one part familiar, one part surprise. The primary typeface is Funkis A, with two secondary typefaces – Kapra Neue and Windsor Extra Bold Condensed – the latter used to emphasise the surprising element. Typically boring and functional nutritional information was also shared through the curious, yet fun Grain tone, bringing experimentation and fun back to healthy food.

Vandring bland släktled på Pörtö under tre sekler is a book about family members living on the Finnish island of Pörto and three centuries of local history, by Gun Ahlfors, Curt-Olof Eklund, Henry Mansner, and Christian Westerback. It was published by EW Finland. Designer Tuija Tarkiainen of Studio Kiss writes on her website:

The shape of the book was determined by the idea of ​​full spread photos of the properties located in Pörtö, which photographer Christian Westerback shot for this work.

Since the book has a lot of body text, it had to be not only readable but also beautiful. For that, captions and titles, I chose the Schotis font designed by Juanjo López (”a typeface suitable for the most elegant and hard work”) and for spice, my old crush, the geometric Funkis typeface by Lettersfromsweden.

The Pörtö book was awarded at Finland’s Most Beautiful Books 2022. From the jury’s critique:

The layout and typography are harmonious, avoiding unnecessary gimmicks. The images have been nicely brought into line, and the choice of paper brings a glow and warmth to the work. The beautiful spine is a delightful detail; instead of squeezing in information, it has been dedicated to beautiful letters. The timeless result, designed by a skilled professional, is clearly exceptional among local histories.

Signage system for Six Senses Kaplankaya, a holiday resort in Turkey, designed by Federation. Funkis is used for the numerals and the Turkish text. The English labels are in Battlefin Italic.
