Kurt Woerpel, Nejc Prah, and Tracy Ma had used Focal alongside ABC Marist and VCR OSD Mono for the report Inside Youth Basketball published by the Luka Dončić Foundation.

The Foundation uses Focal and Marist also for its branding – which was directly inspired by the design of the report. Focal is paired with different typefaces and illustrated letters to give an expressive and vibrant view on where basketball is with the youth around the world. It also stands a lone in some more somber instances of the report and the foundations branding.

The fanmade ET4 (Extended Template 4) is a Mr. Incredible Becoming Uncanny meme template made by Russian YouTuber Bloodycrazyman (formerly known as BLOOD V.O.J.A.K) in the mid-to-late 2024, based on a template by Phoenix (formerly known as FreakyHell Studio) which was much shorter. The template uses more jumpscares, flashing lights and (fake) gore phases than Phoenix’s template. For the text, the template uses VCR OSD Mono, a bitmap font designed by Rickety Santos Leal in 2014.

Palco Giratório’s 2018 edition was conceived by the national Sesc team. This project aims to spread scenic arts to various regions in Brazil, especially the ones with less access to artistic expression.

The fonts in use are Dharma Gothic for headlines, combined with EB Garamond and Fabrikat Mono for paragraphs and subtitles, as well as VCR OSD Mono to create graphic images and forms.

Vintageria.it is an online vintage fashion store based in Venice, Italy.

Their website is a single-page application with a Vue.js-based frontend and features Aromatron for large headings, VCR OSD Mono for smaller headings and additional typography, Greycliff CF for UI and the Light style of Roboto for body copy.

HCE, the agency behind the project, shares the sources of inspiration and the target audience:

The brand's themes of sustainability and fight against gender and ethnic discrimination is weaved through the whole project. The brand's communication (both in the website and in Vintageria's social media channels) has an ironic tone, meant for a young public who is enthralled by the '80s and '90s iconography.

Sometimes, you just can't choose. The “creative process” could be defined as a series of failed production, rapid prototyping with intention of iteration. For the cover of Los Angeles rapper Nosaj Thing, returning designer Adam Guzman made a cover of covers, or maybe it’s a cover of sides. The typography is eclectic and brings logistic tags, notes and checks to mind, while the composition echoes strict modernism in the post ISO world.

In addition to the physical LP, CD and cassette versions, there is also a website where the “stripes” are independent, animated objects.

Better Call Saul is an American television drama series that premiered on AMC on February 8, 2015. The series premiere was the biggest in cable history, drawing 6.9 million viewers.

The character of Saul Goodman is a two-bit lawyer whose boisterous ads are typical of the injury law firms that appear on American billboards and local television: garish and tacky. The typefaces for the TV series logo, then, were well chosen. Two low-rent scripts are slapped into place: “BETTER CALL” is the kind of script brushed onto a wall by a signpainter in a hurry, and “Saul” is the kind of script found on drugstore greeting cards. The brushy scales of justice could be clip art from the hard disk of a budget designer, or from the shady pits of 99designs. It all fits Saul’s style perfectly.

The opening title sequence overlays the logo on a different scene in each episode. The low-fi, dirty video effect is a reference to the pilot episode in which McGill (AKA Goodman) watches old VHS tapes of his ads. The logo is followed by the creators’ credit set in a classic bitmap font familiar to any of us who had an early ’90s camcorder with a timestamp/label function.
