Designed by Bronisław Zelek and awarded by Mecanorma as best exclusive typeface design of 1974. [Ariadne]
Paratype’s digital version “was developed at TypeMarket in 1993 by Alexey Kustov on the base of artworks of Viktor Kharyk and Lidia Kolesnichenko (1979), that were developed as a Cyrillic adaptation of [New Zelek]”.
New Zelek Pro (Threedotstype, 2013) is a digital adaptation and expansion made by Marian Misiak in consultation with Zelek. It includes Latin and Cyrillic characters. An Arabic version has been announced, but isn’t available as of 2025.
