2002 issue. Inspired by lettering on engraved maps, with additional
inspiration for the bolder weights from
Victorian Fat Faces [Frere-Jones].
Comes in three optical sizes, Text, Display (shown), and Fine, each
in five weights with italics. Additionally available in optimized
versions for screen and MS Office.
The italics come with ball-terminal swash alternates for
‘AKMNTUVWY’, among other things. While Frere-Jones describes the
design as primarily his, Hoefler claims co-design credit, “with
