Designed by John F. Cumming and issued by the Dickinson Type Foundery in c. 1890 [Reichardt 2011] as an extension to the earlier caps-only Typothetae [ATF 1895–96]. Later sold by ATF.
Adopted for phototype as Xenotype 3455 (PLINC, 1962). [Art Nouveau Xenotypes 1895–1905] Fürst shows a phototype version as Classique. [1969 catalog]. Endora (Lettergraphics) is a tamer reinterpretation.
Monotype has a digital version inherited from Agfa Typography. It contains several alternates (‘AHLRSWagimqs’) and ligatures (‘HE’, ‘OO’, ‘oo’) under unrelated codepoints.
