Excelsior Schrijfletter a.k.a. Excelsior Script is a version of the French Écritures calligraphiques or the German Künstler-Schreibschrift, issued by Typefoundry Amsterdam in 1906. [Amsterdam 1968]
Cast in the United States by Chicago/Neon/Castcraft [c.1960 specimen] who later made a phototype adaptation of both weights. [Castcraft 1978] Other phototype adaptations by Photo-Lettering [PLINC 1965] and VGC. [VGC 1969] These were based on a different size than the digital versions of Künstler-Schreibschrift.
Castcraft made a digitization of both weights as OPTI Excelsior Script (1990–1991).
