Heline was “conceived as a bridge between calligraphy and the aesthetics of cross-stitch and pixel art. Its design is rooted in an expansion-contrast structure, combined with a pixel-based construction system. The family presently includes ten complementary styles: five in vector format – Text Regular & Italic, Display Roman, Italic & Fatface – and their corresponding bitmap versions – Pixel Text Regular & Italic, and Pixel Display Roman, Italic & Fatface. ¶ Beyond its formal qualities, Heline explores the dialogue between craft and digital technology, reflecting on themes of time, memory, and generational transmission. Its name pays tribute to this lineage, merging Hélène (Morgane’s great-grandmother) and Maryline (her mother), both of whom practice(d) embroidery. In this way, the project not only embodies a typographic experiment but also a deeply personal narrative that intertwines design with family heritage.” – Vantorre
