Origin unknown. Starting with letters perhaps derived from a solid egyptian/antique, such as Antique (Figgins), this is one of many typefaces filled with intricate decoration in various styles. An 8-line pica size was shown by Blake, Garnett in 1827 and Bower & Bacon in 1830.
