Designed by Willy Schwerdtner and cut by Gustav Eichenauer for Stempel in 1928 in four styles. Also cast by Caslon. The light weight was carried by Sunity as Kanu Series.
The light has been revived by Jim Spiece as Metropolis SG (Spiece Graphics, before 2001). There are various digitizations of the heavy cut, including those by Castle Type, Image Club (1995), and Monotype. None of them includes Hohe Metropolis, a variety with elongated caps and ascenders. Castle’s and Monotype’s versions include Lichte Metropolis (as Metropolis Shaded).
