Designed by Will Bradley, based on 15th-century sources. Issued by ATF in 1904 [McGrew 1993] and patented 28 Feb 1905.
Inspired the Italian Gothic caps included in the Hershey fonts (1967) and, by extension, Minotaur Lombardic. For direct digital revivals, see the lowercase of José Alberto Mauricio’s Initials ATF Missal Caxton (Alter Littera, 2012, used for the sample), MFC Medieval Monogram (Monogram Fonts Co., 2014), and Gothic Initials Nine (Gerald Gallo, 2009). The freebie Missal Unciale (Manfred Klein, 2005) is poorly made and inauthentic in the details.
