A.k.a. Weiss Roman. The original German name and spelling is Weiß-Antiqua (with the italic Weiß-Kursiv), after its designer Emil Rudolf Weiß. Known for its distinctive top-heavy ‘s/S’, eventually a more conventional alt was offered. [c.1950 specimen] Also had a right-leaning ‘A’.
Ironically, most digital versions feature an inauthentic eszett. Weiss EF (used for the sample) and URW Weiss Antiqua are exceptions.
