Lexend was designed by Bonnie Shaver-Troup and Thomas Jockin in 2018 as a typeface that helps improving reading proficiency. The design is based on the Quicksand project from Andrew Paglinawan. Comes in eight subfamilies of increasing width and spacing; Lexend, Lexend Deca, Lexend Exa, Lexend Giga (used for sample), Lexend Mega, Lexend Peta, Lexend Tera, Lexend Zetta. Turned into a variable font with weight axis (Thin to Black) by Font Bureau in March 2021.
Readex is an expansion of Lexend to other scripts, starting with Arabic by Nadine Chahine in July 2021.
