George, shown as “Design & Poster” in the 13th edition of his
Speedball Text Book (1938). A phototype adaptation
with more detailing was shown by Lettergraphics in 1976 as
Split Ends. [Lettergraphics 1976] Used
already in 1973. Also shown by Castcraft as Split
Caps [Castcraft 1978] and by Dan X. Solo in
Special Effects and Topical Alphabets (Dover
Publications, 1978). Solo later showed a second (stretched) width.
