Cassetta, based in Copenhagen, produces frames, mirrors and limited editions in close collaboration with architects, designers, and artists. Their graphic identity, logotype, website, and online store were designed by Studio Atlant (development by Julia Novitch) and set in HAL Colant (HAL Typefaces). The studio also created customized SS and TT ligatures for the logo, not included in the original glyph set.

On a 2.5 hectare historic site in Gartow, Germany, four artists are renovating and restoring an old sawmill, which carries the outdated nickname “Herbsthausen”. The building’s history dates back over 150 years. Gartow lies in the far-eastern region of Lower Saxony, near the river Elbe. Chenxi Zhong, Camillo Ritter, Thomas Ritter and Susann Karsthof are planning to turn the site into a vibrant art space, to host a wide array of events and exhibitions. Max Weinland and Kiki Park were commissioned to create a logo and a website for the project. The design is set in HAL Colant, published by HAL Typefaces.

M.Giesser, a communication design practice based in Melbourne, created this poster and invitation for Walter Walter’s upcoming exhibition LONGEVITY, presented as part of the 2024 Melbourne Design Week program. The design language references the layered and transparent qualities found in the bio-plastic vessels themselves. The design was typeset with HAL Colant, published by HAL Typefaces, and ABC Rom by Seb McLauchlan, published by Dinamo Typefaces.

Sleek #77 was themed around the topic of “Trust – Vertrauen”, featured David Schütter on the cover (photographed by Nti) and included pieces on/with Svenja Jung, Ragnar Axelsson, Gabriele Quandt, Carlo Ratti, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Hyesoo Chung, Clara Borrelli, Nicolas Cuenca, Ferry Mohr, and Lynette Garland.

The printed issue was designed by Christophe Synak and Lorenzo Louis Pradelli, with headlines set in HAL Colant, published by HAL Typefaces. The other fonts in use are ABC Monument Grotesk with Mono by Dinamo.

The 2023 Umeå School of Architecture (UMA) End of Year Exhibition was designed by Studio Sirka using HAL Colant by HAL Typefaces (studio hanli) and Karl by Source Type.

Speculative Memories is inspired by the rich sound design and experimental double bass playing in Glotman’s most recent homonymous album, combining his classical training as a double bassist alongside his studies in electroacoustic composition to create textural and spatial works. The album was released in both traditional listening format as well as a sound library made available by Spitfire Audio, allowing musicians and sound designers access to the variety of sounds, voices and textures used across the record.

The LP’s design is made through both restrained and expressive, interpretative forms to demonstrate the nature of the record’s attempt to reconcile with the ever changing obscurity of our personal memories.

The physical record consists of a traditional black vinyl with a screen printed outer plastic sleeve which obscures the cover image beneath it with illustrative non-linear line drawings.

Eine Krise bekommen (Visuelle Kultur Band 2, Schriftenreihe) was published by Kathrin Peters of the University of the Arts Berlin (Universität der Künste Berlin). This collection of student essays was designed by Katharina Brenner and Lucie Jo Knilli, and edited by Destina Atasayar, Sarah Böttcher, Katharina Brenner, Lucie Jo Knilli, and Luisa Herbst. The reader was printed at Gallery Print Berlin, set in HAL Colant by HAL Typefaces and features illustrations by Sarah Böttcher throughout. The publication is available digitally under Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-ND – 4.0 International).
