These educational objects were imagined by the Public Outreach Department for young audiences on the occasion of the reopening of the MAMC+ in November 2024. MAMC+ is the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Saint-Étienne Métropole in east-central France.

Système Sensible, a graphic duo composed of Charlotte Gauvin and Matthieu Meyer, designed the graphic identity and the layout of Plus, the museum’s magazine for young audiences.

The issues have 48 pages, measure 194×280 mm, and were Riso printed on Munken Print White 115 g/m² and Munken Pure Rough 150 g/m².

Koto did a brand update for food retailer Gustini, a company that focuses on bringing Italian food to the German public. Fonts in use are Sunset Gothic by Colophon and Blitz by Out of the Dark. The logo is based on Commercial Type’s Ergon, with a modified g. Koto wrote:

Our graphic identity balances traditional Italian aesthetics with modern sensibilities. The logo is inspired by ornate typography—offset by illustrations that reference classic fruit and vegetable tissue wrappers. In each of these patterns, we detail the artisanal craft behind the produce, heroing the innate care of their intricate cultivation. For added variation, not so dissimilar to produce, we created a series of supporting logos, further inspired by beloved Italian food labels.

Here we have a German company selling the idea of Italian culture, using a typeface inspired by Los Angeles street signs, halfway across the world. I think the chosen brand colors here match Sunset Gothic very well, but do they match the idea of Italian culture, or Californian culture, better? Both are sunny, idyllic and renowned for their vineyards and coastlines, so perhaps the distinction is moot in a world that is ever more globalized.

Golden Age. Dictateurs et dictatures des années 70 is a Panini-like sticker album… of dictatorships.

It covers 29 regimes with a total of 348 stickers to collect. That’s a whole pile of despots. A project about history, graphic design, and memory. Started over ten years ago, Golden Age was finally published on June 25, 2025, after countless twists and turns – and a lot of time spent editing, coloring, or tracking down portraits that were sometimes impossible to find.

London-based IYA Studio designed the identity of Portoro Coffee, combining Altiplano’s Millionaire Script with Colophon’s Sunset Gothic.

The brand name, Portoro, originates from a type of luxurious Italian marble. Therefore, when designing the wordmark, “it felt appropriate to lean into a logo that references the engraving style found in the Italian Renaissance era,” Designer Jake Bailey explains. An intricate design that combines multiple letters into a single, unified form and set in Altiplano’s Millionaire, the sophisticated serif wordmark not only communicates a distinctly ‘Italian’ aesthetic but its interlocked letters nod to coffee’s ability to foster ‘connection.’ “In the initial phases of the project, while crafting our strategy,” Bailey notes, “we discussed the unifying power that coffee holds within Italian culture.” The interweaving letters of their design serve as a visual metaphor for this communal act, symbolising the connections formed over a shared cup.

Sunset Gothic is used for the identity of Alice Neel: People Come First, the first comprehensive West Coast retrospective of Neel’s work hosted by the de Young museum. The exhibition includes depictions of Neel’s neighbors in Spanish Harlem, political leaders, queer cultural figures, activists, and mothers, along with a diverse representation of nude figures, including visibly pregnant women. Neel's "pictures of people" embody a rare candor and irreverence.

Sunset Gothic is a painterly sans-serif rendered in the tradition of Los Angeles sign-painters. Throughout her life, Neel was very politically active and cared deeply about social justice. Drawing on Neel’s activism and the kind of spontaneous hand-lettering that is produced for protests, Sunset Gothic's expressive and humanistic qualities felt like an appropriate extension of Neel’s artistic approach. The addition of the underline references the signature blue contour outline featured in Neel's paintings.
