Designed by Heinrich Jost and first cast by Bauer in 1926 [Wetzig 1926–40]. No lowercase. Comes with alternates for ‘AKMNVW’ [VdS].
Issued in digital form by The Font Company and URW (1995, used for sample) with faux small caps.
Photo-Lettering’s Atrax series lumped together three different German typefaces from the 1920s under one name, Atrax, Ege-Schrift, and Basalt [PLINC 1965]. Their digitized Atrax is the style that actually is based on Ege-Schrift.
