Very similar to Berthold Block, but with clean contours. Issued by Vienna-based foundry Scholz before 1914 [New Year’s card] in sizes from Petit (8pt) to 6 cic (72pt). Unlike the sample may suggest, there is also a lowercase. Include an ‘ST’ ligature and alternates for ‘aensuCDEFHKLNSTU’. ‘R’ is shown in two forms, with curved and straight legs, which are either alternates or size-specific forms. The condensed is called Schmale Block. [1920 specimen] Also carried by Gutenberg as Reklameschrift Moderne Block (probably before 1920), with Cyrillic. [undated specimen]
