Text on the booth’s light box sign is set in Persona and a yet unidentified script

On the occasion of the Nitto ATP Finals (12-19 November 2023), Tennis association ATP and digital art platform Artchild partnered to launch a limited edition tennis poster, designed by acclaimed artist Honor Titus.

The poster was available online and on site during the 2023 Nitto ATP Finals. The on-site poster booth was designed by Dum Dum Studio / Christina Rodriguez and was dressed up in posters using a few handfuls of typefaces.

The capitals of the top four lines are a mix of Affigere and at least two more sans serifs. The bottom line is set in Persona and three more yet unidentified typefaces.

The smallest typeface on these posters is Fluxisch Else, a deliberately imperfect version of Univers; “extra” is set in Hypocrite.

The script typefaces on this poster are Ballet and Jane Austen, complemented by ITC American Typewriter Condensed.

“Un Uomo” is in Antique Book Cover, “E Una Racchetta” in Snell Roundhand. The bottom line pairs Serial B with Windsor Elongated.

The newspaper-like masthead uses Leipzig Fraktur Bold. The big text is set in Century Schoolbook. Dalliance Script is used for the date and URL. The smaller texts are set in a combination of ITC Avant Garde Gothic and Airstream NF. The script used for Honor Titus’ name is Snell Roundhand.

Since the birth of plastics in 1950, we have produced 8.3 billion tons of plastics. The total amount of plastic produced in a year is roughly the same as the weight of all humans. 91% of plastic waste is not recycled. In addition, since most plastics do not biodegrade naturally in any sense, all plastic waste may exist for hundreds or even thousands of years. If we don't restrict the production and consumption of plastic, by 2050, plastic waste will be heavier than all fish combined.

As you can see, many languages are used in the poster. Only the national policy makers and the garbage polluters (the designer of this page) can understand the whole rule, while the people (the audience who look at the poster) can only receive the information they can understand.

The space of the poster is divided into square grids of equal size, which means that the earth can accept the limit of environmental pollution. When people fill up these living spaces, it will be the end of terror.

In terms of material output, the paper is relatively rough, and ink-jet printing is used for printing. When watching the poster, the color is dim. When you take a picture with your mobile phone or camera, it will be much brighter than what you actually see. It's like showing people things that are always beautiful, and out of the camera are those miserable situations.

The poster shows the words “White Pollution” in multiple languages, set in various typefaces. Chinese is set with UD Reimin and the rounded FangZheng LanTing Yuan (方正兰亭圆粗. English is set with Theinhardt, Japanese uses HG羽衣B / HGHagoromoB, Korean uses Adobe Myungjo. Russian is set with Molot, German uses Leipzig Fraktur and Portuguese uses DIN Next Slab.
