Thorowgood

Thorowgood is the name of Stephenson Blake’s 1950 revival (along with Thorne Shaded) of an early 19th-century typeface by Robert Thorne of the Fann Street Foundry [Gray 1976]. The original fat face was designed by Robert Thorne in 1806 [DWB]. This cut is credited to William Thorowgood, ca. 1820 [Neil Macmillan]. Thorowgood’s Fat Italic appeared in 1820 [Graphis].
