Released by Deberny & Peignot in 1925, Sphinx is a reissue of an older face unearthed in the Deberny collection [Corpus typographique français]. Comes in Regular, Italic, Condensed (étroit), Blanc, and Open/Inline (caps only, see Sphinx éclaire) styles. See also Éclair. Sold by Reggiani as Norma, incl. corsivo and filettato styles [Reichardt 2011]. Imported to the US by the Continental Typefounders Association.
The Regular and the Inline styles were digitally revived by Steve Jackaman (Red Rooster, 1992, used for the sample). Doug Olena is credited with another revival (Keystrokes, 1992), in two widths, both in solid and inline styles.
