MEADOWS Kitchens is an award-winning kitchen design studio located in the UK. First established in 2006, the family-run business has completed a broad array of projects across the country, delivering refined, considered and sustainable kitchens to the highest level. Their design practice focuses on working with a mixture of contrasting materials, textures, finishes and soft hues to deliver contemporary yet timeless design outcomes.

MEADOWS Studios is their new design studio, showroom and concept store located in Newyln, Cornwall. It is the product of Josh, director and designer at MEADOWS Kitchens, and his wife Kitty, offering a curated selection of homewares, books, art, clothing and accessories. The concept of the showroom is for everything to be shoppable, encouraging customers to shop ethically and sustainably—a reflection of MEADOWS Kitchens’ philosophy and dedication to craftmanship. From the art on the walls, to the shelving, lighting, cabinetry, home accessories, textiles, clothing and more, the store showcases makers and artists from the Cornish shores to Danish, Australian and London designers. The showroom upstairs, with its fully functioning kitchen, is also used to host events, including dinners, workshops and talks from local artisans and artists.

Studio Thomas Hatton was engaged to create a brand identity that houses both MEADOWS Kitchens and their new showroom, MEADOWS Studios. The brand identity draws inspiration from MEADOWS Kitchens methodology—utilising mixed materials, textures and finishes—and the diversity of objects (homewares, books, art, clothing) now showcased in their concept store. This is evident in the forms of signage, printed material and digital interpretations. From stainless steel laser cut signage to chalk writing on glass, letterpress on specialist metallic and textured papers, lightbox signage and more. The aim was to keep the design and typographic language restrained and minimal yet highly considered in its craft, to allow the mixture of materials and finishes to take centre stage. The result is a sleek, contemporary visual identity and design system, with diverse applications, which seamlessly translate across every touchpoint of the brand’s communications.

Beautiful and consistent use of Syndicat Grotesk Regular since 2018 for Kunsthalle Münster's visual identity designed by Julian Mader and Max Prediger known under the name of JMMP.

The designer duo has worked on all design elements including poster, signage, booklet, website, ephemera and more.

The Kunsthalle Münster has presented national and international contemporary art since its opening in 1991. The institution focusses on current trends and socially relevant themes in alternating exhibitions. It regards itself as a production centre and laboratory. Solo and group exhibitions reflect the world of art on the local, national and international level. The Kunsthalle Münster is a place for experiencing art sensually, but also for engaging in an exchange of ideas and theoretical reflexion. A diversified programme of talks, lectures, guided tours, film screenings, symposia and performances supplements the exhibitions. The Kunsthalle thus promotes and inspires an intensive and controversial debate on contemporary art and topical issues of social interest.

Terminal 27 is a high fashion retailer located in Los Angeles, containing a gallery space, cafe, and boutique. It offers products from luxury labels and emerging designers for both men and women in-store and online.

The creative team of Terminal 27 and CTHDRL worked together to develop the visual system of the brand. Syndicat Grotesk by edition.studio is used consistently throughout the whole visual identity.

Syndicat Grotesk in use by Zak Group's team for the communication of a Bruce Nauman exhibition held at at Palazzo Grassi. From Zak Group:

On the occasion of Bruce Nauman: Contrapposto Studies at Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana, Zak Group designed the exhibition campaign and two-volume catalogue following the invitation of curators Carlos Basualdo and Caroline Bourgeois. The show includes a comprehensive survey of the US artist’s practice spanning from the 1960s until today and centers on a series of videos revisiting the original Walk with Contrapposto from 1968.

The museum logo and running texts use Univers.

Florian Brennemann and Laura Chenus used Syndicat Grotesk as the main typeface for the different elements accompanying Gilles Favier’s photographs for the exhibition Jusqu’ici tout va bien at Palais de Tokyo:

The Palais de Tokyo has opened its doors to thirty students from the Kourtrajmé school, to elaborate an exhibition in the form of a workshop. The show explores the link between the movies La Haine, directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, and Les Misérables, directed by Ladj Ly, through visual and cinematographic works made especially for the occasion.

Founded in 2018 by Ladj Ly, whom JR joined the following year, the Kourtrajmé school offers an alternative and free cinema and art education in Clichy-sous-Bois / Montfermeil, the cities where the riots started in France in 2005, following the death of two teenagers, Zyed Benna and Bouna Traoré, as they tried to escape from the police.

As part of the exhibition, JR – who is in charge of the art section of the school – has created a pasting on the museum’s facade, applying a picture of Clichy-Montfermeil through an anamorphic image.

Campaign designed by Phillip Kim for the release of Super Fleece Heat Navi, a collection by Descente, a Japanese sports clothing and accessories company, first formed in 1935.

Syndicat Grotesk Bold by edition.studio is paired with custom Hangul lettering.

Paris based studio Plus Mûrs designed the new visual identity of Ourros (Los Angeles) using Syndicat Grotesk by edition.studio. Ourros is a “creative studio and management company built upon cross-disciplinary collaboration”.

edition.studio designed the exhibition catalog for DUST: The plates of the Present for Centre Pompidou Paris using Syndicat Grotesk.

DUST: The plates of the Present is a collective photographic archive, initiated between 2013 and 2018 by French painter Thomas Fougeirol and Hong Kong born American artist and curator Jo-ey Tang. They invited 136 artists to produce a series of eight photograms in an improvised darkroom, which they named DUST, in Ivry-sur-Seine, France.

The exhibition: DUST: The Plates of the Present was curated by Florian Ebner, Thomas Fougeirol and Jo-ey Tang. The catalog was published by Spector Books and printed by Gutenberg Beuys Feindruckerei.

Syndicat Grotesk is the typeface family used for the redesigned Fact magazine, both on their website and in the print issues.

Heike-Karin Föll is painter who is currently based in Berlin. She works with the materiality and mechanics of painting and language, treating textuality as equally a vehicle of content, a visual motif and a material form.

Heike-Karin Föll’s foundational collection of works on paper refuses, in its totality, to be pinned down. SPEED exists in a sequence of autonomy, embracing simultaneity and resisting typical chronology or logic. A resource library for Foll’s more well known painted works, each page also stands on its own. The “writing” and “rewriting” of these pages is a rejection by the artist to rest on what has already been accomplished, and insists on constantly renewing modes of expression amidst the routine and expected. SPEED takes the form of visual index, a micro structure of narrative, through the space of the page. Blank spaces (components of in-betweens and not-yets), textual elements, found images, and abstract icons are assembled from a daily stream of computational information and graphics to bring us into the temporal now. The pages slip from medium to medium, relying on short forms and small units as the bases for recontextualisation and variation. Montez Press is honoured to be able to offer an opening for these vast and untamable works by Heike-Karin Föll.

WSDIA|WeShouldDoItAll were asked to design the Spring 2020 lectures poster for UTSoA, University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture.

The posters for the previous fall and spring editions displayed pre-built 3d models for rent that are all familiar to architecture students. The thought-provoking “wall” lives on in the Spring 2020 poster.
