Designed by Stanislav Maršo between 1954 and 1963 for Grafotechna. [Sidun] Proofs dated 1965 show two weights. By 1967, Cyrillic characters were added to both. [Reichardt 2008] A Grafotechna specimen that may be dated to 1966 mentions that the fonts were ready for production.

A phototype adaptation in a single style is shown by Typeshop [Typeshop c.1977] (used for sample).

Vegan Sans (Superior, 2014) is loosely inspired by Vega. BC Vega (Briefcase Type Foundry, 2025) is a faithful revival that extends the design to five weights.
